Museums

If you'd like to indulge into the wonderful arts that the city of the Renaissance has to offer, please find below a list of museums that you do not want to miss:

- Palazzo Vecchio: Not your typical museum, this former palace was once the residence of the powerful Medici family. The magnificent Salone dei Cinquecento alone is worth the visit, but the palace also features exquisite chambers and a remarkable hall adorned with centuries-old geographical maps—making it a true treasure of Florence.

- Gallerie dell'Accademia, where the famous David by Michelangelo is

Churches

Florence is filled with stunning churches all around the city centre, with the Duomo being the most famous.

Other Churches that are worth a visit are:
- Santa Maria Novella: in front of the train station, it boasts works by Masaccio, Giotto and Brunelleschi
- Santa Croce: it comes with the statue that inspired the Statue of Liberty
- Santo Spirito Church: located in one of the coolest neighborhood in Florence, it looks pretty anonymous on the outside, but don’t let this appearance fool you, inside it is just stunning, not to mention that It boasts a crucifix by Michelangelo.

ACTIVITES NEARBY FLORENCE

Siena
Perhaps the loveliest of all Tuscan towns, is about 1 hour from Florence. Simply enchanting, with impressive walls, a gorgeous Duomo, and a unique atmosphere, this is a city not to be missed.

Landmarks to visit are definitely Piazza del Campo and climbing on the Torre del Mangia, the stunning Santa Maria della Scala museum and the Dome.


San Gimignano
A UNESCO World Heritage site, is a gloriously picturesque Italian town, with fifteen medieval towers (built by competing grandees as expressions of power), and a cathedral.
Its vertiginous streets are lined with small shops that sell locally made Tuscan cheeses, meats and sausages, table linens, ceramics, olive wood carvings and gelato. If you want to indulge in the latter, stop by the famous Gelateria Dondoli or book one of their gelato classes, or, if you are a wine lover, you might want to stop at Tenuta Torciano winery.

Florence is very close to the Chianti region, famous all over the world for the quality of the wine production; with lovely villages such as Castellina in Chianti and Greve in Chianti, this is a true paradise for wine lovers, boasting wineries such as:

Florence is a wonderful city for children to explore. They’ll love wandering through the historic center with a gelato in hand, climbing monument towers, and playing in scenic gardens like Boboli Garden and Giardino dell'Orticoltura, both of which have playgrounds.

Many museums are family-friendly, but for extra fun, check out the Museum of Illusions, La Specola Natural History Museum, and the Museo Galileo — all centrally located. If your kids love animals, consider visiting Fattoria di Maiano, a countryside estate just outside the city with a petting zoo and nature trails.

A Note on Children
We love your little ones dearly, but we kindly ask that the wedding week events remain adults-only. The only exceptions will be for our flower girls and ring bearer. We hope this allows everyone to unwind, celebrate, and fully enjoy this special time with us.
